A day with 'We Are Function & Form' and Houzz...

Recently, a group of interiors bloggers met at Ottolenghi in Spittalfields to attend a 'We Are Function & Form' get-together. Described as a 'unique gathering of like minds, We Are Function & Form (WAFF) was set up by Tiffany Grant-Riley and Annie Kruse, two very busy working mums, but both with a passion for simple, clean hand-crafted design. Their vision was to bring together like minded bloggers, stylists and creatives to join them in creative gatherings featuring inspirational designers and makers talking about and sharing their own work.

This was only their second event, sponsored by the Internationally acclaimed website Houzz. Emmeline and Vicky gave a fascinating introduction to the company, from its humble origins to 11 countries being represented in 13 offices worldwide and an impressive 40 million members. Despite being in the interiors industry for what seems like eons, I was a newcomer to Houzz and now really enjoy trawling through its extensive database of images. For anyone renovating their home, top to bottom, inside and out, you'll find enough inspiration, industry professionals and like minded individuals to help to create your own personal moodboards at the click of a button and turn your dream into reality.

We had two homes to look forward to on our mini tour, beginning with a short walk around the corner to the fascinating Huguenot weaver's house of award winning architect Chris Dyson. Chris founded his practice in Spitalfields in 2004, with projects varying from private commissions to public buildings and urban planning proposals. The practice's two specialist areas cover an array of projects from historic conversions to contemporary cultural and commercial commissions.

Next time I'll show you my snaps from the second home on our tour. Meanwhile, here are some shots from Chris' home. Click on the links below to find out more.
